New arrivals

A new term means a new group of very nervous young disabled students arrive at the School for the Disabled to start learning their chosen subjects. The first day is for the new students to get to know each other, the teachers and their fellow students, and it is a great day of fun. It is the old students who devise activities for the new students and there is always a lot of singing, dancing and humiliation.
Once the students have spent the day getting to know each other, the evening is the time when the teachers welcome the students. This is done by the teachers tying small white strings on the wrists of the new students.
Many of the students have had very sad lives before joining our School, but after the initiation ceremonies they know that they now have friends, and their new lives are about to begin.
